2014 World Cup Venues and Dates Announced

As the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil draws ever closer excitement is already building in the country that gave the world the "beautiful game" as the venues and dates for matches were announced.

Despite the build up to the tournament suffering delays and complications, officials in Brazil insist the country will be ready to host the global football extravaganza and this week invited former Brazil star Ronaldo to join the organizing committee.

Ronaldo, a two-time World Cup winner and the competition's all-time leading goal scorer, will follow in the footsteps of Michel Platini of France and Germany's Franz Beckenbauer as former players who helped their country host the finals.

A total of 12 stadiums in 12 different cities will host the 2014 finals' 64 matches and Fifa recently announced the dates and venues for all the matches from the opening game at Sao Paolo's Arena de Sao Paolo through until the final at the world famous Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
