Thailand: FC Phuket's Camara Clings To Life
Thursday, 4th November 2010 at 08:48am
Influential FC Phuket midfielder Camara Ahmed remains in the ICU of Bangkok Hospital Phuket, Thailand after suffering a heart attack during his side's vital 1-0 win against Chai Nat FC.
The Ivory Coast national on loan from Thai Premier League champions Muang Thong United collapsed midway the second half and was rushed from the field to the nearby hospital by ambulance and revived on route.
Camara, a virtual ever present this season, has been in a coma since and doctors are closely monitoring his condition.
While his condition is rated as critical, doctors have insisted that only relatives and close friends are allowed to enter the ICU to lower the risk of the stricken star contracting an infection.
Camara's brother is now in Phuket and he will soon be joined by their mother who is awaiting visa approval so she can travel to Thailand.
Last night, FC Phuket players, officials and fans held a candlelit prayer service for the popular midfielder before flying up to Bangkok for this weekend's playoff fixture against Bangkok FC.
