Van Persie Hoping for Swift Robben Return

Wednesday, 9th June 2010 at 12:07pm

Holland and Arsenal star Robin van Persie is hoping that Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben will make a swift return to the national side to help spearhead the Dutch World Cup campaign.

"Arjen is an awesome player. His playing style has a lot of weapons; he has a good technical ability, a good dribble, he can finish and he's fast. Hopefully he'll be back as soon as possible," said van Persie.

"From what I understand, he's working really hard to join the squad next week," he added.

Robben picked up a hamstring injury in the Netherlands' friendly match against Hungary on Saturday and will miss Holland's opening match against Denmark on June 14.

The former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder pulled up with five minutes remaining after having come onto the field as a second half substitute, scoring twice.

The Bayern Munich winger is expected to be fit in time to face Japan on June 19.
